Computing Science - Pupils of the Week - Week Beginning 14th December 2020:-
Liam Smith - 1.4 - awarded a certificate for completing challenges on Minecraft.
Emily Carr - 1.7 - making some amazing choices in class with her behaviour.
Rory Campbell - 2K2 - for making a fantastic Christmas card on MS Publisher.
Teejay Gunn - 2F - making amazing progress on the MS Publisher Christmas card.

Why Choose Computing?
We are in a digital revolution and the majority of jobs in the future will involve Computing Science. The top ten skills employers are looking for relate to Computing. Jobs in this field are some of the highest paid in the world.
If you choose Computing Science you will get lots of “hands on” experience of the most up-to-date software and will use your creative skills throughout the course to produce a range of digital solutions.
Jobs: Mechanical -Engineer, Systems Analyst, Air Traffic Controller, Electrician, Graphic Designer, Software Developer to name just a few out of hundreds.

Computing Courses
- The Department offers courses from S1-S6.
- Learners have the opportunity to choose Computing in S3. The S3 course is planned in line with the principles of curriculum design and helps to develop the 4 capacities. The Course is continually reviewed to ensure that it is relevant and up to date.
- The S3 course has an emphasis on equipping our learners for the demands of national courses with an emphasis on developing and progressing literacy and numeracy skills.
- The Department has been working towards building in clarity of skills for learners to support their personal development and employability opportunities.
- In the Senior Phase, Computing Science is offered at N4, N5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels.
- Feedback is a prominent feature and is given verbally and written with young people developing essential self and peer assessment skills.
Course Choice
Course choice presentations can be found on the relevant Computing and IT pages.
Revision
Revision resources for all courses can be found on Microsoft Teams. Teams is also used within the department to set homework and test dates. All young people have access to Teams through Glow. Young people who forget their Glow login details can contact Mr Brandt in the Computing department to retrieve them or have their password reset.
Study Support - Tuesdays and Thursdays - after school - C20. Pupils are also welcome to come to the department during any lunchtime.
