Letter Parents/Carers from Carrie Lindsay 21 March
As the First Minister and Deputy First Minister have indicated "responding to the coronavirus pandemic is a matter of greatest national importance, and the scale of the challenge in front of us is truly without precedent."
We recognise that these are unprecedented times and there will be significant impact on you and your children. Therefore, we wanted to provide you with some early information about how we are planning to meet the requirements outlined by the Scottish Government.
You will know that the Scottish Government has taken the decision that all schools and Local Authority early learning and childcare settings will close to children and young people with effect from 1700 on Friday 20th March 2020.
Please see the letter to Parents/Carers from Carrie Linday Executive Director (21st March) for more information on how the Local Authority plans to protect the following key interests and groups:
Key workers: to ensure that children of key workers, for example NHS and social care staff, have continuing access to appropriate learning and childcare, potentially beyond the normal school day, that allows their parents/carers to participate in the national response to COVID 19.
Educational continuity: to ensure S4-S6 pupils can complete course work for national qualifications.
Vulnerable children: to maintain protections and support for children who may be particularly vulnerable in the current circumstances, particularly in respect of free school meals, children with additional support needs and at-risk children.
